Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus is a term that describes the connection between water energy and food. Meaning,that the actions in any of those areas often have effects in one or both of the other areas. So,we cannot manage these resources in isolation, they have to be connected.
Our goal is to optimize the Water-Energy-Food nexus in advance and in real time using the first of its kind software.
This Nexus approach provides a great opportunity for solving the resources challenge. As a result we can achieve optimization and flexibility in energy and resource management. We can do it in advanced and in real time. When all systems are combined electricity can be converted to heat, cold, food, water storage or even waste (treatment). Therefore it can significantly minimize energy losses.
Our software runs on two modules. One for management and other for design. They both work separately but has the ability to join together.
Grid Design Software (5D GDS)
Its goal is to design the best decentralized that balance between cost and quality.
After defining a geographical location,number of consumers and loads (i.e. houses) and amount of life-supporting systems (water, energy, food), the system runs an algorithm whose goal is to reduce the cost of those resources.
The algorithm runs many times and can produce multiple designs for this area. For each of those it predict the cost, quality, equipment sizing. It can also recommend to add more elements to achieve self-sustained state.
Grid Management Software (5D GMS):
This is the brain that controls all the elements in the village. The system receives information regarding the real-time status of system. From the weather outside to the changes of the use of electricity in the past few weeks. Than it advises the best use of every resource (at any given moment) using it’s AI capability.
The goal is to optimize the overall resources use. And so each element in the system And so each element in the system is monitored every second and compared to the expected consumption.
Since our system is autonomous it constantly advises to a hardware controller what control commands to send to each system. Meaning it has full control over the village.
